‘s Werelds meest elegante vierdeurs sportwagen
De langverwachte Aston Martin Rapide heeft inmiddels zijn publieke debuut gemaakt. Op 14 September werd de Rapide officieel onthuld op de IAA te Frankfurt. De reacties waren overweldigend, de Rapide was voor velen de onbetwiste parel van de show.
Voor het eerst is het nu mogelijk om de prestaties van de Aston Martin DB9 te koppelen aan het gebruiksgemak van een vierpersoons auto met alle luxe en stijl van het allerhoogste niveau. Om ook de achterpassagiers bij het rijden te betrekken zijn de achterstoelen iets hoger en meer naar het midden geplaatst dan de voorstoelen, zodat u ook vanaf daar een goed zicht op de weg heeft.
En over praktische bruikbaarheid gesproken: de bagageruimte is 301 liter groot en als de banken zijn omgeklapt, wordt dat 750 liter. Alle inhoud van de Rapide, dus inzittenden en hun bagage, kunnen in zeer rap tempo naar hun bestemming worden gebracht. De bekende Aston Martin 6,0-liter V12 levert in de Rapide 477 pk bij 6.000 tpm en 600 Nm koppel bij 5.000 tpm. Een Touchtronic2 zestrapsautomaat is uiteraard standaard, desgewenst bedienbaar met de standaard aanwezige padlle shifters aan de stuurkolom.
Power, Beauty & Soul zoveel als u wenst dus, bij de Rapide, die uiteraard volledig ‘Licensed to Thrill®’ is. De vier uitermate comfortabele stoelen bieden alle gewenste ondersteuning, ook als het prestatievermogen van de Rapide geheel wordt aangesproken. Elke passagier heeft z’n eigen verwarming en airconditioning en elk uitrustingsdetail toont en ademt de enorme aandacht die er aan is besteed.
De Aston Martin Rapide werd als concept voor het eerst getoond op de Detroit Auto Show in 2006. Nadat Aston Martin medio 2007 nieuwe aandeelhouders kreeg, werd groen licht gegeven voor de verdere ontwikkeling en serieproductie. In iets meer dan twee jaar ontwerp Aston Martin's engineering team op het inmiddels fameuze V/H platform van de DBS en DB9 een luxueuze vierdeurs sedan die even elegant als snel is en in de automobiele topklasse zonder twijfel toonaangevend en zonder gelijke is.
De Rapide sprint in 5,3 seconden naar de 100 en heeft een topsnelheid van 303 km/u. Denkt u voor de prijs aan een bedrag rond de 280.000 euro. Onze nieuwe Saloon wordt in het voorjaar van 2010 leverbaar maar is nu al te bestellen. Snel doen = snel genieten!
