Aston Martin DB9 Coupe
Met de Vanquish introduceerde Aston Martin in 2001 een revolutionair geconstrueerde zelfdragende carrosserie. Deze bestond uit een ultrastijve en lichte combinatie van geklonken, verlijmd en gelast aluminium en koolstofvezel.
De auto gaf de weg naar Aston Martins toekomst aan. Want volgens dezelfde principes werd daarna voor toekomstige modellen het nieuwe VH-platform ontwikkeld dat in de DB9 debuteerde. De DB9 Coupé weegt hierdoor slechts iets meer dan 1.700 kg. Omdat zijn aluminium 6.0 liter V12, laag en ver naar achteren geplaatst, liefst 470 pk (350 kW) en een maximum koppel van 600 Nm levert is er een indrukwekkende gewicht/vermogen verhouding ontstaan. Dat resulteert in sensationele prestaties en een geweldig weggedrag.
De DB9 is echter niet alleen maar snel, hij heeft ook een ravissant exterieur en interieur. Gestrekt, laag, uitermate harmonieus van vorm, elegant en toch ook ultra sportief.
